Check Deposits, Processing Fees, and Payment Statuses in Albi Pay
This article explains important check deposit requirements in Albi Pay, how processing fees work, and what each payment status means. It helps you understand why a payment may fail, expire, or succeed—and how to manage payment requests from start to finish.
Important Check Deposit Requirements
Before requesting a Check Deposit, please review the following requirements carefully. These rules are enforced due to Albi’s payment processing policies.
- A 2% processing fee is charged on all check deposits processed through Albi.
- Payee Requirement
- Checks must be made payable to “Albiware LLC.”
- If Albiware LLC is not listed as the payee, the check will not be accepted or processed.

- Mortgage Lender Restriction
- Checks that include a mortgage lender (either as a payee or referenced party) cannot be processed through Albi.

If a check does not meet both of these requirements, the payment request will fail and must be reissued using an alternative payment method.
Managing Check Deposit Requests
Once submitted:
- The request appears in the project’s Payment Requests tab.
- You can:
- Cancel the request
- Resend the request
- Track its status until deposited
Processing Fees Overview
- Credit Card / ACH Payments
- Processing fees apply per transaction.
- You can choose whether the company or the customer pays the fee.
- Check Deposits
- A 2% processing fee applies to all deposits.
- Processing fees are charged by Albi for handling transactions securely.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the fees to expect when using Albi Pay:
- Card Transactions: 3.2% + $0.30 per transaction
- ACH Transactions: 1% (capped at $15)
- Refunds (Card & ACH): $0.30 per refunded item
- Chargebacks, ACH Returns, & Disputes: $25 each
- Deposit Fee: $0.25
Payment Status Breakdown
Each payment request in Albi moves through different statuses so you can easily track its progress from request to completion.
- Requested
- The payment request has been created and sent to the customer.

- The customer has not yet completed the payment.
- Action: "Cancel Request" button (triggers a confirmation modal)
- Tooltip on hover: "Payment has been requested"
- Processing
- The customer has submitted their payment details.

- The transaction is being processed by the payment provider.

- Action: No available actions

- Succeeded
- The payment was successfully completed.

- Funds have been received and applied to the project.

- Failed
- The payment attempt was unsuccessful.

- A new payment request may be required.
- Action: "Retry Request" button (re-opens the payment request modal for resubmission)

- Possible Failure Reasons:
- Declined
- Do not honor
- Expired card
- Fraudulent card
- Incorrect payment information
- Insufficient funds
- Invalid security code
- Invalid expiration date
- Lost or stolen card
- Processing error
- Unsupported card type
- Cancelled
- The payment request was manually cancelled by a user.

- Expired
- The payment request was not completed by the customer before the expiration date.
- The secure payment link is no longer valid, and the customer can no longer submit payment.
- Action: “Retry Request” button (creates a new payment request with a new expiration date)
Payment statuses update automatically in real time, allowing you to quickly identify which payments need follow-up and which are already completed.
